The Giants placed catcher Hector Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list Monday, three days after he took a foul tip off his mask during a rehabilitation assignment for Triple-A Fresno.
Sanchez went on the seven-day disabled list July 26 after suffering a concussion caused by a foul tip off his mask against the Los Angeles Dodgers the previous night. He was playing in his third rehab game for Fresno when he left in the third inning of a game at Tacoma.
Sanchez, the Giants' No. 2 catcher, had taken several foul tips off the mask this season before the one that put him on the seven-day D.L. He is batting .196 with three homers and 28 RBIs for the Giants and was 3 for 10 with a homer and three RBIs in three rehab games with Fresno.
