A disgruntled barber attempted to attack a co-worker with a knife Wednesday -- just one day after he was terminated -- and now faces felony assault and weapons charges, police say.
A 59-year-old Hayward man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday for repeatedly molesting a teen he hired to be a "houseboy." Prosecutors said Christopher Purcell had placed on ad on Craigslist calling for an employee who would engage in sexual activity in addition to cooking and cleaning.
With one exception, this is essentially the same measure that narrowly failed to garner the needed two-thirds voter approval in 2012. We agree that funding our transportation systems is critical for the region's economy. But that doesn't justify open-ended taxation with no regard for the trade-offs.
