Woman struck and killed by train in Hayward

The fatal accident occurred where the tracks cross Industrial Parkway at Pacific Street. The victim's name has not been released. 
A Hayward man was sentenced to two years in prison Friday for helping with preparing false tax returns, according to federal officials.  
 
A body found floating in Lake Chabot on Friday afternoon is believed to be a man who intentionally jumped in the water July 14, an East Bay Regional Park District spokeswoman said.

On the floor of Oracle Arena Thursday morning stood 1,500 uniformed officers standing at attention, their eyes fixed ahead to an arrangement of funeral flower wreaths, and the framed uniform of Sgt. Scott Lunger.  
 
Alameda Health System reversed its decision to close the program Friday. It was scheduled to end because of low patient volume.

HAYWARD -- Two men who used to run a Union City hazardous waste disposal company with big-name local clients were sentenced to jail time on Wednesday for defrauding customers and cheating hazardous waste laws.
