SAN LEANDRO -- Two Hayward men were shot and wounded early Sunday when a large Halloween party turned violent, police said.

Officers found the men were hit in their "lower bodies" at the party on the 500 block of Marina Boulevard shortly before 2:18 a.m. The victims, both in their 20s, were rushed to the hospital with wounds that were not considered life threatening, said San Leandro police Lt. Jeff Tudor.

Investigators don't know the motive for the shooting, which happened in the Timeless Countertops parking lot. Police said the Timeless owner, who was not named, put on the party at his business.

Witnesses told police the shooter was a light-skinned black man, in his mid to late 20s, who wore a t-shirt and dark jeans and was armed with a silver handgun.
