ANTIOCH -- Antioch Unified trustees unanimously approved contract extensions this week for its top four administrators, including locking up Superintendent Donald Gill for the next three years.

The move extends the contracts of Associate Superintendent of Educational Services Stephanie Anello, Associate Superintendent of Business Service Tim Forrester, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Keith Rogenski by two years, through June 2015.

The extensions include merit raises for Gill, Anello and Rogenski. As of July 1 of this year, Gill's base salary is $221,432, Anello's is $167,443 and Rogenski's is $155,761 -- the first raises since all three were hired or promoted to their current positions.

"We feel like we have a great administrative staff that has worked really hard, so we wanted to be able to honor them and also keep them," board President Joy Motts said. The board analyzed salaries in comparable districts and felt the increases were "not too overzealous but warranted," she said.

Gill's new salary is an increase of about $12,090, while Anello's is $6,882 and Rogenski's is $6,441. Forrester's base salary is at $174,779. As a classified employee, his merit raises are determined by the district's management salary schedule, and a satisfactory evaluation by his supervisor.

His salary was moved up to the top step effective Aug. 1.

The district estimates the new contracts will cost about $33,000, which includes the base salaries, retirement contributions, workers' compensation and other medical coverage costs, Rogenski said. The majority of that amount will come out of grant funding from the James Irvine Foundation, while $8,000 will come out of the district's general fund.
