MARTINEZ -- The Contra Costa County Elections Office reminds people that they have until May 19 to register to vote in the June 3 Gubernatorial Primary Election.
Voter registration forms are available at city and county offices as well as state Department of Motor Vehicles offices. Completed forms must be postmarked by May 19, 2014 or delivered to the Elections Office at 555 Escobar Street, Martinez by 5 p.m. that day. Voters also can register online at https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/register-to-vote/.
Eligible voters must be U.S. citizens who will be at least 18 years old by June 3 and not in prison or on felony parole, according to the Elections Office. People who have completed their parole are eligible to vote in the state of California.
Citizens naturalized after the May 19 deadline can register and vote between May 20 and June 3, 2014, at the county Elections Office. Registration requires a Certificate of Naturalization.
