Concord High running back Olito Thompson, who holds the Northern California record for most rushing yards in a single season, has orally committed to Washington State.
Thompson committed to Cougars coach Mike Leach while visiting the Pullman campus.
"Just the whole environment. The football field and the stadium, (Pullman) revolves around the school," Thompson said. "They're more concerned with a player as a person."
Thompson said his final list of schools included Arizona, Utah, San Jose State and Nevada, all of whom offered him a scholarship.
He will lead the Minutemen this season as a senior, but will be hard pressed to surpass his junior campaign. He rushed for 3,488 yards in 2011, leading Concord to the North Coast Section Division II final.
