In a game full of big plays and penalties, it was a 2-yard mad dash that made all the difference in Oakland Tech's 29-28 win over Benicia on Friday.

Down 28-21 late in the fourth quarter, the host Bulldogs drove down the field after Oakland Tech's Nayo Johnson picked off a pass near the end zone. The Bulldogs eventually reached paydirt on an 18-yard touchdown run by quarterback James Lewis. Oakland Tech went for the win, sending Noah Suszckiewicz to the end zone for the go-ahead two-point conversion.

The Bulldogs (3-2) held on to give the Panthers their first loss of the year.

Lewis ran for three touchdowns and passed for one, racking up 109 yards on the ground and 132 yards through the air. Oakland Tech's Erik Thomas ran for 102 yards on 13 carries.

Benicia (4-1) quarterback Ryan Bohnet turned in a solid night for the Panthers, despite two interceptions. He went 17-for-31 through the air, with 249 yards and two touchdowns. Bohnet connected with eight different receivers; John Lewis hauled in four catches for a team-high 81 yards.
