POSITION: Quarterback

THE STAT LINE: Benjamin completed nine of his 14 passes for 170 yards and four touchdowns as the Gauchos ended Salesian's 26-game winning streak with a 42-6 victory. Benjamin's touchdown passes, all in the first three quarters, went for 21, 54, 6 and 62 yards.

Nsimba Webster

SCHOOL: Deer Valley

SPORT: Football

YEAR: Junior

POSITION: Quarterback

THE STAT LINE: Webster led the Wolverines' offense in an impressive 55-35 win over Vacaville. He rushed for a team-high 221 yards on just 11 carries, completed 12 of 17 passes for 117 yards and accounted for three touchdowns.

Girls

Christine Bayliss

SCHOOL: San Ramon Valley

SPORT: Cross country

YEAR: Sophomore

THE STAT LINE: Bayliss won the Division I race at the prestigious Stanford Invitational, crossing the finish line in 18 minutes, 28 seconds. Bayliss, who won the Division II race last year, was 22 seconds faster than second-place finisher Brooke Starn of Monte Vista on the 3.1-mile Stanford Golf Course.

SPORT: Volleyball

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Outside hitter

THE STAT LINE: The Washington State-bound Holt slammed 14 kills and had seven digs in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 victory over St. Patrick-St. Vincent. She also had 17 kills, two blocks and three digs in a 25-17, 25-17, 25-13 win over St. Joseph Notre Dame.

BOYS

BRIAN FREEMAN, California School for the Deaf, football, Sr. -- Freeman rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns, both of which covered more than 50 yards, in the Eagles' 44-17 victory over St. Vincent. His touchdown runs went for 62 and 54 yards.

JOE PROTHEROE, Clayton Valley, football, Sr. -- The senior running back has rushed for more 1,000 yards in five games this season, including a 262-yard performance in a 55-15 win over Hayward. Protheroe scored four touchdowns and had an interception in the victory.

GIRLS

BRIANNA KARSSEBOOM, Bishop O'Dowd, volleyball, So. -- Karsseboom produced 14 kills and 10 digs in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 victory over Berkeley. She also had 33-percent of her team's total points in a 25-14, 25-6, 25-12 win over San Lorenzo with 16 kills, six aces, three blocks and nine digs.

MARISOL TRACY, Amador Valley, volleyball, Jr. -- The outside hitter put up big numbers in the Dons' EBAL wins over Granada and Monte Vista. She tallied 21 kills and 19 digs against the Mustangs and had 13 kills, seven digs and four aces against Granada.
