Khalil Thomas's 2-point conversion run in overtime sealed the win for the visiting Monarchs in this WACC-Shoreline game at Thompson Field. The loss was especially bitter for the Hornets (2-6, 0-3), who argued vehemently that Thomas had crawled into the end zone after getting stopped short.

Alameda, which saw its losing streak extend to four games, got off to a fast start and led 13-0 after one quarter. But the Hornets needed a 26-yard field goal from Karl Bliven to knot the score at 22-22 with 4:52 left to send the game to overtime.

The Hornets had the first possession in the overtime with Elijah Hernandez passing to Chris Bussey for a 15-yard touchdown on second down. Mt. Eden (5-3, 3-1) needed only one down to respond, as Jonathan Sturholm passed 10 yards to Justin Gindlesberger.

Earlier, Mt. Eden's Giovanni Remmen had caught touchdown passes of 77 and 51 yards. And a 22-yard run by Devante McGowan set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Gindelsberger. McGowan led all rushers with 108 yards.

For Alameda, Hernandez scored on a 14-yard run and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Rusca. The Hornets also got a 32-yard touchdown run from Bussey on a busted play.
