YEAR: Junior

POSITION: Running back

THE STAT LINE: Lozoya rushed for a school-record 301 yards as the Vikings edged Moreau Catholic 56-55 in a Mission Valley Athletic League game. Among Lozoya's 23 carries were two 68-yard touchdown runs.

Joe Protheroe

SCHOOL: Clayton Valley Charter

SPORT: Football

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Running back

THE STAT LINE: Protheroe's 221 rushing yards and three touchdowns helped the Eagles claim the ClayCord Cup over rival Concord 49-6. He averages over 17 yards a carry and leads the East Bay in rushing yards with 1,781. He has 18 total touchdowns.

Brianna Karsseboom

SCHOOL: Bishop O'Dowd

SPORT: Volleyball

YEAR: Sophomore

POSITION: Outside hitter

THE STAT LINE: Karsseboom produced 105 kills at the Stockton Classic as the Dragons went 2-2. She also produced 12 kills and 10 digs in a victory over Piedmont, and had 12 kills and eight aces in a win over Tennyson.

SCHOOL: Amador Valley

SPORT: Golf

YEAR: Junior

THE STAT LINE: Liu earned medalist honors at the East Bay Athletic League tournament, shooting a 4-under 67 at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Brentwood. The two-time league MVP was a combined 1-over for 12 dual matches and the league tournament.

CAMERON BIRSE, San Ramon Valley, football, Sr. -- Birse threw for 225 yards and four touchdowns in a 31-21 win over Foothill, keeping the Wolves in a three-way tie for first place in the EBAL. Birse was 14 for 25 passing with one interception.

TRA'VON CLAY, Richmond, football, Sr. -- The 5-foot-7, 160-pound Clay rushed for 271 yards, including 234 on 11 carries in the second half, and four touchdowns in the Oilers' 38-18 victory over Albany. His touchdowns, all in the second half, went for 80, 44, 52 and 32 yards.

GIRLS

SPENCER MOORE, St. Mary's, cross country, Jr. -- Moore finished eighth in the Division IV girls sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational with a time of 19 minutes, 4 seconds on the 3-mile course at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. She was the top North Coast Section finisher in the race.

ELIZABETH SCHULTZ, Acalanes, golf, Jr. -- Schultz won the Diablo Foothill Athletic League tournament by carding a 3-under par 69 at Poppy Ridge Golf Course to earn league MVP honors. It was her second consecutive league championship.
