Tariku Abdo
SCHOOL: Berkeley
SPORT: Cross country
YEAR: Sophomore
THE STAT LINE: Abdo made a big move in the second mile and won the North Coast Section Division I championship race with a time of 15 minutes, 48 seconds for the 3-mile Hayward High course. He is the first NCS Division I boys individual winner from Berkeley High in at least 15 years.
Aidan Goltra
SCHOOL: Campolindo
SPORT: Cross country
YEAR: Junior
THE STAT LINE: In wet and muddy conditions,
Goltra posted the fastest time of the day at the NCS championships. He won the Division III race by 20 seconds, completing the 3-mile Hayward High course in 15:30.

Allison Chuang
SCHOOL: Albany
SPORT: Tennis
YEAR: Sophomore
THE STAT LINE: Chuang won the first NCS girls singles title in Albany High history with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over defending champion Stephanie Lin of Pinole Valley. Chuang won her first three tournament matches in straight sets, losing only a total of six games before coming back to win the championship.
Sabrina Clayton
SCHOOL: California
SPORT: Volleyball
YEAR:
POSITION: Outside hitter, middle blocker
THE STAT LINE: The 6-foot-1 Clayton, who is bound for Santa Clara, had 29 kills and 11 digs as the top-seeded Grizzlies beat No. 2 San Ramon Valley 23-25, 25-15, 25-6, 25-19 to win the NCS Division I championship, their first section title since 1982.

BOYS
BRIAN FREEMAN, California School for the Deaf, football, Sr. -- Freeman rushed for 267 yards on 35 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 52 and 42 yards in the Eagles' 13-12 loss to St. Vincent in an NCS Division V semifinal game.
TIAPEPE VITALE, De La Salle, football, Sr. -- Vitale led the Spartans in a 35-13 victory over Pittsburg in the NCS Division I quarterfinals. The senior rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns, giving him 1,635 yards and 23 touchdowns this season.
GIRLS
JENNA FRIEDEL, College Prep, tennis, Fr. -- Friedel won the NCS Division II singles title with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over St. Patrick-St. Vincent's Adrienne Sturgis in the final. Friedel lost eight games in her three tournament matches.
ANNIE MARGGRAFF, Acalanes, cross country, Sr. -- Marggraff won the Division III race at the NCS championships, leading the Dons to their first section team title. Marggraff finished the 3-mile Hayward High course in 18:25 to win by two seconds.
