Friday Division I Championship

  • No. 1 San Leandro (23-5) vs. No. 2 Deer Valley (23-5) at Saint Mary's College, 8:30 p.m.

A closer look: Both teams are in search of their first North Coast Section title. The Wolverines are appearing in the title game for the second straight year, while the Pirates are making their first championship game appearance. San Leandro won an early-season matchup, 67-62 on Dec. 18.

    Division II Championship

  • No. 1 Newark Memorial (22-7) vs. No. 2 Dublin (24-5) at Washington HS, 7 p.m.

A closer look: The Gaels, who this season won their first league title in 40 years, are now searching for their first NCS title. The Cougars won the Div. II crown last season, their first title since 2000. This is the third meeting this season between the teams, with Newark winning the first two comfortably.

    Saturday Division III Championship

  • No. 1 Bishop O'Dowd (25-3) vs. No. 3 El Cerrito (22-9) at Dublin HS, 7 p.m.

A closer look: This is the fourth straight season the Gauchos and Dragons have met in the playoffs but the first time in an NCS championship game -- although they met in the 2011 NorCal title game. O'Dowd has won each of those previous matchups. The Gauchos are after their first title since 2003, while the Dragons are looking for their second straight and third in four years.

    Division IV Championship

  • No. 1 Salesian (29-3) vs. No. 2 Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa (29-2) at Albany HS, 7 p.m.

A closer look: The Pride are searching for their third straight NCS Division IV title and fourth in five years. Salesian has won 14 of its last 15 games in the section playoffs. Cardinal Newman carries a 19-game win streak into Saturday's contest. The Cardinals are led by 6-foot-6 swingman Corey Hammell, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds in his team's 57-48 semifinal win over Marin Catholic-Kentfield.

    Division V Championship

  • No. 1 St. Joseph Notre Dame (21-11) vs. No. 3 University-San Francisco (24-7) at Albany HS, 3 p.m.

A closer look: The Pilots are searching for their third straight Division V title, and University is looking for its first since 2002. St. Joseph Notre Dame has not been as dominant in this year's section playoffs as it was the past two years but is benefiting now from playing in the ultracompetitive Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division, which features two other teams -- Salesian and El Cerrito -- that are in section title games. St. Joseph beat University 63-32 in the 2011 NCS Division V title game.

    Friday Division I Championship

  • No. 1 Heritage (24-4) vs. No. 3 Monte Vista (23-5) at Saint Mary's College, 6:30 p.m.

A closer look: The Patriots, playing in a section championship game for the first time in program history, will try to continue what has already been a banner year under second-year coach Dan Swan. Monte Vista is also in somewhat unfamiliar territory as it plays for the Division I title for the first time since 2009. Heritage and Monte Vista already met twice this year in December tournaments, splitting the two contests.

    Division V Championship

  • No. 2 International (28-3) at No. 1 Valley Christian-Dublin (29-2), 7 p.m.

A closer look: The top-seeded Vikings are experiencing their best season in the program's short history, having not lost since Dec. 4, 28 games ago. After having a 23-113 overall record from 2004 to 2011, the Vikings went 25-4 last season and advanced to the NCS playoffs, losing in the first round.

    Saturday Division II Championship

  • No. 1 Carondelet (24-3) vs. No. 2 Clayton Valley Charter (22-6) at Dublin HS, 7 p.m.

A closer look: The Cougars have looked every bit like the NCS Division II dynasty they are, having won their two playoff games by an average of more than 50 points. Carondelet is on a 15-game win streak, and has scored fewer than 70 points just once in that time. Clayton Valley Charter is on a 14-game win streak and is searching for its first NCS title since 1998.

    Division III Championship

  • No. 1 Bishop O'Dowd (25-3) vs. No. 2 Miramonte (27-1) at Dublin HS, 5 p.m.

A closer look: The Dragons are gunning for a fifth consecutive NCS Division III title behind arguably its best team ever. McDonald's All-American Oderah Chidom is one of three O'Dowd post players headed for Division I colleges, and the group will be a handful for a Miramonte team without a player over 5-foot-11. The game is a rematch of last season's NCS Division III and NorCal Division III title games, both won by O'Dowd. Cal-Hi Sports ranks both teams the state's top 10.

    Division IV Championship

  • No. 1 St. Mary's (27-4) vs. No. 2 Salesian (26-5) at Albany HS, 5 p.m.

A closer look: It wouldn't be a Division IV championship game without the Panthers and the Pride, as the two teams meet in the NCS final for the third time in five years. It'll be the fifth straight year one of the two teams wins the NCS Division IV title, with Salesian winning last season after St. Mary's won in 2009, 2010 and 2011. St. Mary's Gabby Green and Salesian's Mariya Moore were named co-MVPs of the TCAL Rock Division. St. Mary's won the last two meetings with Salesian, the most recent being a 48-40 victory on Feb. 16.
