Granada baseball wallops Wildcats
The Granada baseball team routed host Dougherty Valley in a 13-2 nonleague win on March 5. The Matadors' Casey Soltis lined a two-run home run to right, where there was no fence. The game was played on the Wildcats' junior varsity diamond because a pipe was leaking water on the varsity diamond. The Matadors, who improved to 3-0, broke the game open with a five-run third inning, in which they batted around. Designated hitter Craig Woolson doubled and scored in the second inning and singled and scored in the third, adding an RBI sacrifice fly to center in the fourth. Soltis and Jordan Thrailkill also had two hits apiece. Draco Roberts singled for the Wildcats in the second, but was left stranded at second after advancing on a wild pitch.-- Matt Schwab
