THE STAT LINE: Pope led the Falcons in scoring in two wins that helped them clinch the first Bay Valley Athletic League title in program history. He scored 19 points in a 71-42 win over Heritage, then had 15 points in a 73-41 victory over Antioch in the league finale.

Jeremy Romero

SCHOOL: Hercules

SPORT: Soccer

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Forward

THE STAT LINE: Romero scored all three Hercules goals in a 3-2 victory over Acalanes in the first round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs, then had the lone goal in a 1-0 win over San Lorenzo in the quarterfinals as the Titans reached their first NCS playoff semifinal game.

Brittney Deadwiler

SCHOOL: James Logan

SPORT: Basketball

YEAR: Junior

POSITION: Point guard

THE STAT LINE: Deadwiler had a game-high 18 points in a 67-40 victory over Moreau Catholic that earned the Colts the Mission Valley Athletic League's automatic bid to the NCS playoffs. Deadwiler had 11 points in a 58-30 win over Irvington.

Summer Stamates

SCHOOL: San Ramon Valley

SPORT: Soccer

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Defender

THE STAT LINE: Stamates played solid defense and had three goals and two assists in the Wolves' shutout wins over Clayton Valley Charter and Deer Valley in the NCS Division I playoffs. The defending champion Wolves outscored the Eagles and Wolverines a combined 12-0.

BOYS

LAMONT BANKS, St. Joseph Notre Dame, basketball, Jr. -- Banks had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 62-46 victory over Salesian in the Tri-County Athletic League tournament championship game. He also had 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 62-54 semifinal win over St. Patrick-St. Vincent and 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 60-39 quarterfinal win over St. Mary's.

CHARLIE ZALOUMIS, Monte Vista, soccer, Jr. -- Zaloumis helped the Mustangs advance to the NCS Division I semifinals with two goals and two assists in the first two rounds of the tournament. His two goals came in a 5-0 first-round win over Antioch and he assisted both of his team's goals in a 2-1 win over Richmond in the quarterfinals.

GIRLS

DESTANEE ALEXANDER, Kennedy-Richmond, basketball, Jr. -- Alexander had 27 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks in a 59-48 victory over St. Joseph Notre Dame in a TCAL tournament quarterfinal game. She also had 22 points in a 69-45 loss to Salesian in a semifinal game.

GABRIELLE BROWN, Las Lomas, soccer, Jr. -- Brown had two goals and an assist to lead the No. 4-seeded Knights to a 3-0 win over No. 12 Encinal in the quarterfinals of the NCS Division II playoffs.
