Carson Sand

YEAR: Junior

EVENTS: 200-yard IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 free relay, 400 free relay.

THE STAT LINE: Sand broke West Alameda County Conference records in the 200 IM (1 minute, 53.95 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (56.13). He also swam the third leg for the Trojans' victorious 200 freestyle relay team, and anchored Castro Valley's winning 400 freestyle relay team with a split of 46.39. Both teams also set conference records.

Mayson Xue

SCHOOL: Dougherty Valley

SPORT: Tennis

YEAR: Sophomore

THE STAT LINE: Xue won the first North Coast Section tennis title in school history with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jarod Mah of Terra Linda in the Division I singles championship match. Xue, the No. 1 seed, did not drop a set in the tournament.

Maddie Murphy

SCHOOL: Carondelet

SPORT: Swimming

YEAR: Sophomore

EVENTS: 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle

THE STAT LINE: Murphy earned narrow victories in her individual events and helped Carondelet's 200 freestyle relay team set an East Bay Athletic League meet record. Murphy won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.51 and set a meet record in the 50 freestyle with her time of 23.59.

Kim Nelson

SCHOOL: American

SPORT: Softball

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Pitcher

THE STAT LINE: Nelson struck out 38 batters and walked none in three victories last week. She had 10 strikeouts in a four-hit 3-2 victory over Newark Memorial, and 14 strikeouts in both an 8-0 one-hitter against Mission San Jose and a 4-1 four-hitter against John F. Kennedy. She also batted .400 for the week with a home run.

BOYS

NOAH BREMER, Berkeley, baseball, Sr. -- The Washington-bound Bremer fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks as the Yellowjackets defeated Castro Valley 3-0 in a key WACC-Foothill Division game.

MAXIME ROONEY, Granada, swimming, So. -- Rooney was a double-winner at the EBAL championships, taking first in the 100 butterfly in 49.74 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 50.47. He also swam on Granada's 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams that won with EBAL meet record times.

GIRLS

LEILANI HUEY, Castro Valley, softball, So. -- Huey threw a two-hitter in a 4-0 win over Bishop O'Dowd and a four-hitter in an 11-0 win over Arroyo. Against Arroyo, she was also 4 for 5 at the plate with six RBIs. She also threw a five-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 2-1 loss to Berkeley.

TAYLOR THORSEN, Clayton Valley Charter, swimming, Jr. -- Thorsen claimed two individual titles in the sprints and helped the Eagles' 200 medley relay team to first place at the Diablo Valley Athletic League championships. She won the 50 freestyle in 23.64 and the 100 freestyle in 51.85.
