Maxime Rooney

YEAR: Sophomore

EVENTS: 200-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle

THE STAT LINE: Rooney won the 200-yard freestyle and 500 free at the North Coast Section championships. He set meet records in both events during preliminaries, swimming the 200 in 1 minute, 35.69 seconds and the 500 in 4:20.60. Rooney was also the anchor leg of Granada's 400 free relay team that set a national public school record and was on the winning 200 medley relay team.

Grant Watson

SCHOOL: College Prep

SPORT: Swimming

YEAR: Sophomore

EVENTS: 100-yard butterfly, 400 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay

THE STAT LINE: Watson won the 100 butterfly final at the NCS championships with a time of 48.98. He also was part of the Cougars' 400 free relay team that took second in 3:06.40. Watson was a member of College Prep's 200 free relay team, which finished eighth (1:26.26).

Gabriella Cantrell

SCHOOL: San Leandro

SPORT: Track and field

YEAR: Senior

EVENTS: 100, 200 meters, 400-meter relay

THE STAT LINE: The USC-bound Cantrell won the 100 meters in 11.79 and the 200 in 24.45 at the West Alameda County Conference Championships. She also ran the anchor leg for the Pirates' 400 relay team, which won in 48.51.

Heidi Poppe

SCHOOL: San Ramon Valley

SPORT: Swimming

YEAR: Senior

EVENTS: 100-yard breaststroke, 50 freestyle

THE STAT LINE: At the NCS finals, Poppe won the 100 breaststroke in a personal best 59.85 and took second in the 50 free to help the Wolves claim the team championship. Poppe also helped the Wolves' 200 free relay team set a NCS record and was on the winning 200 medley relay team.

BOYS

TRAVIS BYERLY, Fremont Christian, baseball, Sr. -- In the Bay Counties League championship game, Byerly threw a no-hitter and struck out 16 of 22 batters in a 4-0 victory over Making Waves Academy. He also went 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI. Byerly also drove in a run in a 7-2 victory over Livermore Valley Charter Prep.

JORDAN OTT, Amador Valley, baseball, Sr. -- Ott fired his second consecutive shutout with a five-hitter in a 3-0 East Bay Athletic League win over California. He had two strikeouts and one walk and finished 5-1 in league play.

GIRLS

BROOKE STARN, Monte Vista, track and field, So. -- At the EBAL championships, Starn won the girls 1,600 in a meet record time of 4:53.15 and later win the 3,200 in 11:04.33.

JEN THOMPSON, Arroyo, softball, Jr. -- Thompson went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs in a 6-3 victory over Castro Valley in the WACC-Foothill Division tournament championship game.
