Name of Product: Caldrea Sweet Pea Surface Wipes

Manufacturer: The Caldrea Company

Retail Cost: $8 for 25 wipes

Promises Made: "These wipes are immersed in the subtle fragrance of sweet pea, one of the loveliest and earliest flowering spring vegetables." "Mild, yet effective." "Caldrea's wipes contain a special vegetable protein extract and baking soda to remove odors." "Dermatologist tested." Simply wipe down changing tables, high chairs, strollers, toys and other surfaces enjoyed by little ones. Uniquely formulated for the nursery."

Promises Delivered: The fragrance was subtle and refreshing. Since I have a 10-year-old son, I let him help me clean some surfaces in his room and bathroom. Each saturated wipe cleaned the dust and dirt thoroughly. The surfaces we cleaned became very sudsy with these wipes. Some surfaces had to be rewiped with a wet paper towel to remove the sudsy residue.

Promises Broken: None, although we had no odorous surfaces to wipe and could not put that to the test.

General Thoughts: I feel that having residual suds on a surface that could later have a baby's mouth on it would not be appealing, even though the manufacturer says its formulation is safe for little ones.

Overall grade: C
