SAN JOSE -- The woman who was found shot and killed Wednesday inside her condominium located near Tully Road has been identified by police as Anna Duong, 43, a mother of two children.
Duong leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, according to Sgt. Jason Dwyer. The children are being cared for by relatives.
As of 10:45 a.m. Thursday, police had not made an arrest in the killing, the city's second homicide of 2013, Dwyer said. Police did not release any additional information about their investigation.
On Wednesday, police responded to the 2600 block of Ponselle Court, located off Tully Road between King Road and Highway 101, and found Duong inside a condo suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was taken to Regional Medical Center in San Jose where she died about an hour later.
Neighbors say Duong ran a convenience store out of her home and sold snacks and sodas to people who lived nearby.
Martin Salgado, 18, told this newspaper that Duong sold "candy and chips, mainly to kids in the neighborhood" Salgado said he used to take his younger sister to the ground-floor home to buy snacks and described Duoong as "nice. Really nice."
On Wednesday night, officers unloaded and examined boxes of goods in the trunk of a white Mercedes-Benz sedan parked outside the condo. The products included numerous cartons of cigarettes.
