EAST PALO ALTO -- Police have made no arrests and are unsure of a motive for the early Sunday gunfire that killed a 21-year-old Menlo Park man and left another wounded.
After getting reports of a shooting near the corner of Euclid Avenue and Runnymede Street at about 12:30 a.m., police found Jose Caballero-Diaz and another man wounded nearby, said East Palo Alto police Detective Nua Lualemaga. Both men were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and word came from the hospital about 5:15 a.m. that Caballero-Diaz died.
Police didn't release any information about the other wounded man.
Officers found spent shell casings at the scene and also canvassed the neighborhood but didn't find any witnesses. Lualemaga said the initial investigation has not produced a motive for the killing or any suspects.
