Danville: Museum exhibit covers Japanese internment

A profound example of a limited footprint that makes a giant-sized imprint can be found now through May 15 at a striking exhibit, "Art of Survival," at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley. The artifacts and photographs tucked into the cozy museum display a dark period in U.S. history, when President Roosevelt on Feb. 19, 1942, signed Executive Order No. 9066. 
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory announced Thursday it received a first-of-its-kind brain-inspired supercomputing platform.  
 
Embattled charter school chief John Zukoski has resigned as CEO and chief financial officer of the Tri-Valley Learning Corp. Zukoski, who had announced two weeks ago that he would resign at the end of the school year, made it effectively immediately after a closed-door TVLC board meeting March 28 to evaluate his performance.  
 
The Livermore police K-9 unit on April 1 introduced a new team member, a chihuahua named 'Mocha'. In a short video, Mocha demonstrates "tactical rolls" and patrols the downtown with an officer.  
 
The Sunol-Ohlone Regional Wilderness will celebrate the season with its annual Spring Wildflower Festival, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. There's also a 2-mile wildflower walk from 2 to 4:30 p.m. April 10 at Tilden Nature Area near Berkeley, guided by naturalist Trent Pearce.

Hailed as the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers, Tammy Ma, who works on the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, was one of 105 people in the country to receive the award.

Police said the 27-year-old Livermore man killed Thursday night by a drive-by shooter in East Oakland who also wounded two other men was an innocent victim.
