LIVERMORE -- The Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District will offer a number of free and low-cost services and activities for seniors this fall.
If you're 50 or older in Livermore, you're eligible for a free flu shot. Shots will be given from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Robert Livermore Community Center. 4444 East Ave.
Registration for BART Senior Clipper Cards for residents 65 and older will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Oct. 31 at the community center. The Clipper Card will be replacing the paper senior discount BART tickets. (A photo I.D. is required).
A Wheels Transit representative will also be available during that time to provide information about travel options and training opportunities on public transportation.
Also on Oct. 31, a Halloween luncheon for seniors will be held. The cost for this catered event is $8. Costumes are welcome.
The Senior Services Holiday Shopping Fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Nov. 3 at the community center. Representatives from Partylite candles, Mary Kay cosmetics and Cookie Lee jewelry will be on hand. Admission is free, and the proceeds will support park district senior activities.
The annual Golden Circle Holiday Boutique featuring handmade items by senior women will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Nov. 8 and 9 at the community center. Newborn items, hats, scarves and more will be on sale. Proceeds from the event will go to charities.
