LIVERMORE -- A one-alarm fire in a Livermore office building was deemed "suspicious" by fire investigators, officials said Friday.

About 1:05 p.m., fire crews responded to a fire alarm sounding in the 4500 block of Las Positas Road and found smoke and fire coming from an office building, Battalion Chief Joe Testa said. Additional units were called in at that time, and firefighters were able to knock down the flames within about 15 minutes.

Though the fire did not spread past the corner office where it started, the building suffered smoke and water damage from the fire sprinklers, Testa said. No estimated cost of damage was immediately available.

No injuries were reported in the fire, Testa said. There was no one in the business at the time of the fire.

The fire remains under investigation, though it appears to be suspicious, Testa said. The scene was held by the Livermore Police Department overnight to be examined by investigators.
