Dublin beats Campo in key DFAL game

  • Jamir Andrews scored 31 points and JoJo McGlaston added 25 to lead the Dublin High boys basketball team to a 86-72 win over Campolindo on Jan. 18. The win, Dublin's fourth straight, gave the Gaels a 11/2-game lead in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League standings entering this week.

    MV beats Foothill, stays tied for first

  • The Monte Vista High boys basketball team had no trouble with host Foothill on Jan. 18, taking a 23-point lead at halftime en route to a 75-29 East Bay Athletic League win. The victory was the sixth straight for the Mustangs, who improved to 5-1 in the EBAL and remained tied for first place with De La Salle. Junior Trevor John and sophomore Stefan Miti each had 14 points in the Monte Vista win.

    Dublin girls soccer team fit to be tied

  • The Dublin High girls soccer team has lost just once in its last five games and still has a shot at second place in the DFAL. The Gaels tied College Park 1-1 on Jan. 15 and rival Dougherty Valley 0-0 on Jan. 18 to run its league record to 3-2-3, good enough for third place in the DFAL behind Alhambra (4-2-1) and Campolindo (7-0-1).

    Grizzlies edge Wolves in overtime

  • The California High boys basketball had its ups and downs in nonleague play, but the Grizzlies have things going in the right direction now. California outscored Amador Valley 15-10 in overtime to earn a 71-66 victory in San Ramon on Jan. 18. Senior Shane Haley led the Grizzlies with 22 points, and made two free throws with one second left in regulation to force overtime. The win was California's third in four games entering this week.

    Wolves beat Matadors in EBAL showdown

  • The San Ramon Valley High girls soccer team remained unbeaten for the season and built on its first place lead in the EBAL with a 1-0 win over Granada on Jan. 17. Alexa Vandevanter scored on a rebound in the 55th minute for the Wolves, who improved to 11-0-4 overall and 5-0-3 in league play. Granada fell to 5-2 in the EBAL but is still in second place.

  • Las Lomas at Dublin, girls soccer, Jan. 25, 6:15 p.m. -- The Gaels will look to stay in the hunt for second place in the DFAL when they host the Knights. Dublin, which has lost just once in its last five games entering this week, tied Las Lomas 0-0 when they two teams met Dec. 12 in Walnut Creek.

  • Amador Valley at Livermore, girls basketball, Jan. 25, 7 p.m. -- The Dons, who entered the week on a four-game win streak at tied for first place in the EBAL, play at Livermore. Amador Valley won the first meeting between the teams 64-33 on Jan. 2.

  • Monte Vista at Amador Valley, boys soccer, Jan. 29, 6 p.m. -- The Dons host the first place Mustangs in an EBAL tilt. Monte Vista beat Amador Valley 2-1 in the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 5.

  • Jamir Andrews, Dublin boys basketball -- The senior guard had 31 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 86-72 win over Campolindo on Jan. 18.

  • Emily Barrett, Foothill girls basketball -- The sophomore forward combined for 22 points, 24 rebounds and six steals for the Falcons in EBAL games against Livermore and Monte Vista.

  • Vas Stover, Foothill wrestling -- The 160-pound junior went 5-0 at the 40th Albany Invitational on Jan. 19 to help the Falcons to a third place finish. He had three pins in the tournament and upped his season record to 26-8.

  • Shane Haley, California boys basketball -- Haley led the Grizzlies with 22 points in a 71-66 win over Amador Valley. Haley made two free throws with one second left in regulation to force overtime.
