LIVERMORE -- Army Spc. Nathan Hewitt, 22, got a big patriotic welcome home on Saturday from friends, neighbors and the community.

Hewitt, who has been serving in Afghanistan, was welcomed at the airport by the motorcycle-riding members of Warriors' Watch Riders, who escorted him home to Livermore. Once there, Hewitt's car was led down Hanover Street to his family's home. Members of community and military groups, family and friends cheered, waved flags and gave him a hearty welcome.

Hewitt, who has been in the Army for three years, was deployed to Afghanistan in October. During his deployment, Hewitt received the Army accommodation medal, NATO Award, Overseas Ribbon and ARCOM Award, said his mother, Beth Hewitt.
