LIVERMORE -- Police need the public's help in identifying and locating a reckless driver who is also wanted for evading police, a department spokeswoman said Sunday afternoon.
At 10:12 a.m. Sunday, a silver minivan was seen driving recklessly in the area of Scenic and Central avenues in the city's Springtown district.
An officer saw the minivan driving on the wrong side of road on Scenic Avenue as it passed another vehicle over double yellow lines. Police said the driver of the minivan then drove through stop sign at about 30 mph on Scenic at the intersection of Central Avenue.
No one was injured. The officer tried to stop the minivan, but the driver sped away and police deemed a chase unsafe, said department spokeswoman Officer Traci Rebiejo.
The minivan was last seen traveling west on Sunflower Court near the intersection of Bellflower Street, police said.
Witnesses told police that the same vehicle and driver had been seen driving recklessly in the same area on Saturday and last week, Rebiejo said.
The driver is possibly a white or Hispanic man in his early 20s, and the minivan is possibly a Chrysler Town & Country or similar-style vehicle.
Anyone with information should call Livermore police at 925-371-4900.
