Worchel was killed about 1:25 p.m. when, according to witnesses, he jumped in front of a northbound BART train. The station's power was shut off for nearly two hours causing major delays for passengers as a coroner's deputy worked to remove the body, firefighters said.
Nearly two hours later, an unidentified 25-year-old woman left a suicide note near the platform and jumped in front of an oncoming train at the West Oakland BART station.
Trapped under the train for 35 minutes, the woman was rescued "unscathed," according to BART spokesman Linton Johnson. She was taken to a local hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
