OAKLAND -- An Oakland Raiders game took a tragic turn Thursday night when a man apparently jumped from the third deck at the Oakland Coliseum, a spokesman for the sheriff's office said.

The man's identity was not released, although he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, said Alameda County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson. Oakland police said the man was listed in serious condition late Thursday.

The incident occurred shortly before the game started at 5:30 p.m., police said.

The Oakland Raiders released a statement to NBC Bay Area late Thursday, stating while they did not have any information on the incident other than what had been reported by media outlets, "our thoughts and prayers are with this gentleman and his family and friends."

The Oakland Raiders lost to the visiting Denver Broncos, 26-13.
