There will be an education town hall meeting for parents 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 10. Parents from the Walnut Creek School District are holding the event to help educate the public on propositions 30 and 38. Educate Our State President and Cofounder Crystal Brown will be on hand, as well as district Superintendent Patty Wool and Acalanes Union High School Superintendent John Nickerson. They will discuss how the loss of funding would directly affect the district's schools.

    The authors of a "The Biggest Job We'll Ever Have" will be the speakers at the Seven Hills School Parent Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the school 975 N. San Carlos Drive in Walnut Creek.

    Laura and Malcolm Gauld are founders of the parenting workshops that emerged from their book. Their philosophy centers on a parent being the child's primary teacher. They will share their 10 core beliefs for parents -- what they call "The 10 Priorities" -- and talk about how families can raise successful children.
