Firefighters mop up after a condominium unit fire on Creekside Drive in Walnut Creek on Friday. No one was injured, but the fire caused about $30,000 in damages.

WALNUT CREEK -- A man and a woman escaped without injury Friday after a second-floor bedroom in their two-story condominium caught on fire, a fire official said.

Fire crews did not identify the residents, who left the residence by themselves after the fire broke out about 2:40 p.m. in the Pinebrook Condominium complex, on Creekside Drive off South Main Street. Crews had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, Battalion Chief Dominic Ciotola of the Contra Costa Fire Protection District said.

What caused the fire to begin is still under investigation, Ciotola said. A Red Cross unit was helping the residents with temporary housing. The fire caused approximately $30,000 damages in property and contents, Ciotola said.
