OAKLAND -- Archbishop Alex J. Brunett, apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Oakland, will celebrate a special Mass of Remembrance Wednesday for the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
The hourlong service begins at 12:10 p.m. and is open to the public at Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2121 Harrison St., in Oakland. It will provide an opportunity for people to come together and pray as a community. Archbishop Brunett and Bishop Emeritus John S. Cummins will lead the prayer.
The Mass will be followed by a procession with a memorial wreath onto Cathedral Plaza, where it will remain throughout the day.
