The Acalanes High boys soccer team isn't afraid to play up, to say the least.

The Dons, who appear to be the predominant Division II team in the North Coast Section, hosted Division I power San Ramon Valley on Saturday and earned a 3-2 win to stay unbeaten for the season.

Acalanes let a 2-0 lead slip away and just as a draw seemed imminent, Ben Croze was able to bury one in the bottom left corner to catch the Wolves' defense by surprise for the game-winner in the 74th minute.

Dons goalkeeper Eric Rogstad made just four saves, but all were big, including one in the final two minutes that salvaged the win.

"This was very big for the team and for the program," Rogstad said. "I'm just doing my job, but it feels good to stay undefeated."

Marko Helfrich put the Dons (15-0-2) up 2-0 in the first half with goals in the third minute and 31st minute, and the home side appeared to be well on its way.

However, the Wolves (10-4-2) got a lifeline just before halftime when Jake Wood knocked in Nathan Miller's cross seconds before the half.

San Ramon Valley looked like to have turned the tide with that goal, getting a second when Chris Scatterday's right footed strike from 30 yards out evened the game three minutes into the second half.
