Games of the week

De La Salle at Monte Vista, boys soccer, Thursday, 6 p.m. -- The East Bay Athletic League standings tightened up after Tuesday's results when Monte Vista was upset by Livermore and De La Salle tied Amador Valley. Now the winner of Thursday's game between the Spartans and Mustangs might have the inside track toward the league title.

Miramonte vs. Archbishop Mitty-San Jose, girls basketball, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. -- The Matadors, who rose to No. 2 in this week's East Bay poll, take on the Monarchs of the West Catholic Athletic League at Bentley School in Lafayette. The game is part of the all-day Campolindo/Bentley Shootout, which also features a game between Carondelet and Berkeley at 5 p.m.

Deer Valley at Freedom, boys basketball, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. -- The Wolverines, winners of seven of their past eight games, travel to Oakley to face the Falcons in a key Bay Valley Athletic League game. The two teams each have 3-0 league records. Last season, Deer Valley finished one game ahead of Freedom to win the BVAL title.

Bishop O'Dowd at Castro Valley, girls soccer, Wednesday, 6 p.m. -- The Dragons, who entered Wednesday not having allowed a goal in their past six games, play at Castro Valley in a game that may help determine the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division champion. Entering Wednesday, Bishop O'Dowd was 9-0 in league, and Castro Valley was 8-2. Bishop O'Dowd won the first meeting between the two teams 4-0 on Dec. 13.
