The Contra Costa County Superior Court is seeking applicants for the Civil Grand Jury for the 2013-2014 fiscal year term.

The deadline for application is April 12.

About 60 applicants will be interviewed by the Grand Jury Selection Committee, which is composed of Superior Court judges. The judges will nominate 30 applicants to a pool, from which the 19 grand jurors will be selected by random drawing June 14.

Grand jurors must be U.S. citizens 18 years or older who have resided in the county for at least a year at the time they are selected. They cannot be current elected office holders.

Grand jurors are expected to serve about 20 hours a week. They receive a stipend for attending full jury and committee meetings, reimbursement for allowable jury travel and permits to park in Martinez while on duty.

Applications and more information are available from the Office of the Civil Grand Jury at 925-957-5638 or on its website at www.cc-courts.org/grandjury.
