ANTIOCH -- Dust off those cowboy boots (or any ol' shoes) and get ready to join the Contra Costa County Fair at its first ever dinner and barn dance.
Tickets are now on sale for the event, which will be held 6 p.m. March 2 at the county fairground's Sunset Hall building. The fairgrounds are at 1201 W. 10th St.
The event includes a tri-tip dinner, no-host bar, dancing music by Southbound and raffle prizes.
Event proceeds benefit the county fair livestock and exhibit programs, including facility improvements to help local groups such as 4H and Future Farmers of America.
The Contra Costa fair's $130,000 in state funding was cut as part of Gov. Jerry Brown's latest budget, so the event is part of its effort to find other money sources and be more involved in the community, while connecting with the county's agricultural roots, CEO Robert Williamson said.
Tickets are $45 a person, and includes admission and a dinner. Tickets for a table of eight are discounted at $40.
