MARTINEZ -- The erstwhile general manager at the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District who agreed to retire in January has reached a settlement agreement with the district.
As part of the agreement, Ann Farrell will receive roughly $150,000 in severance pay and has agreed to release all claims against the district. The district, in turn, has released all claims against Farrell.
The 61-year-old Farrell, a 13-year employee of the sanitary district, served as the top official for nine months before agreeing to retire. That was announced after a series of closed-session meetings in which board members reviewed and discussed Farrell's performance. She was put on paid administrative leave until the settlement agreement was finalized.
In January, the district board named Curt Swanson, a 25-year district employee, as the interim general manager while it searches for a permanent replacement.
The sanitary district processes wastewater from an area stretching from Martinez south to San Ramon and includes Lamorinda.
