ALAMO -- A 5K fun run on Sunday, June 30 will raise money for the Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center and benefit its programs, including an annual Creating Peaceful Schools conference for educators.
Dog walkers and stroller pushers can compete as well, with special awards planned for the fastest dog on a leash and for the first baby to cross the finish line in its stroller.
There will be no trophies or medals, but top male and female finishers in each age group -- under 20; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over -- will receive gift certificates for local businesses or restaurants.
Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. The race begins at the intersection of Stone Valley Road and the iron Horse Trail. The starting gun will be fired at 8:30 a.m.
