A traffic stop led to the arrest of two women after one of them lied about her identity and her companion was found in possession of cocaine and a glass methamphetamine pipe, police said.

The arrests occurred about 9:25 p.m. July 23 in the 2000 block of Shoreline Drive, where the 26-year-old driver provided the false information to an officer avoid being taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant, police said. The woman was allegedly driving without a California driver's license and was in possession of burglary tools. Her passenger, 33, was also wanted on an outstanding felony warrant and in possession of burglary tools, as well as a gravity knife, police said.

In a separate case the same day, police arrested a man, 43, on suspicion of burglary tools at Park Street and Eagle Avenue about midnight. Officers initially detained the man because he was allegedly looking into an unoccupied vehicle. He was released at the scene with a notice to appear on court.

TUESDAY, JULY 23

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 4:20 a.m. in the 2100 block of Alameda's South Shore Center.

    WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

  • BURGLARY -- A man who was arrested in the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue on suspicion of stealing quarters from a laundry room was also under the influence of narcotics, police said. The man, 46, who was arrested about 1:50 a.m., was allegedly in possession of the stolen quarters when officers detained him. Among the charges the man faces is violating his parole, police said.

  • OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- A 25-year-old woman whom patrol officers contacted because they received a report that she was creating a disturbance on a bus was arrested after a routine background check revealed she was wanted on three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The arrest occurred about 3:10 a.m. on Marina Village Parkway.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just before 8 a.m. at Eagle Avenue and Lafayette Street. Another vehicle was reported stolen about 4:35 p.m. in the 900 block of Shorepoint Court, where the victim told police that it happened after someone also stole the vehicle's keys about a month earlier.

  • OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- A man, 32, who was spotted in an area where a burglar alarm was tripped was arrested after officers learned he was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants, police said. The arrest occurred about 3:05 p.m. on Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway.

  • MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana after officers initially detained him because he was allegedly carrying an open container of alcohol. The man, who was arrested at 5:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Central Avenue, was also booked for public intoxication, plus he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear in court.

  • ARSON -- Officers counseled and released two juveniles after they accidentally set fire to dried grass on a vacant lot on Corpus Christi Road. It happened about 6:30 p.m. when the pair began playing with fireworks that they had just found, police said.

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Oakland in the 200 block of Brush Street about 3:25 p.m.

    FRIDAY, JULY 26

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 27, on suspicion of drunken driving about 1:10 a.m. at Briggs Avenue and Fernside Boulevard.

  • BURGLARY -- Someone stole items from a storage unit in the 1800 block of Webster Street in what police have classified as a burglary. The theft was reported at 3:45 p.m.

    SATURDAY, JULY 27

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 12:15 a.m. at Pearl Street and Santa Clara Avenue, police said.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. at Walnut Street and Lincoln Avenue, where he allegedly failed field sobriety tests before he was taken into custody.

  • IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported at 10:50 a.m. in the 1200 block of Park Street, where police said someone used a victim's credit card information to make purchases.

  • PETTY THEFT -- A man, 27, faces a petty theft charge after he shoplifted alcohol at Safeway at Alameda South Shore Center by hiding it in his backpack, police said. A security guard placed the man, who was also booked on suspicion of violating his probation, under citizen's arrest about 10:30 a.m. Another man, 45, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. after he was accused of concealing merchandise under his clothes and then exiting the supermarket at the shopping center.

    SUNDAY, JULY 28

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 21, on suspicion of possessing powdered cocaine about 5:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of Webster Street.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just before 8 p.m. in the 500 block of Central Avenue.
