Rabb to attend USA Basketball camp Bishop O'Dowd High boys basketball star Ivan Rabb will be among 35 players who will attend an October mini-camp of the 2013-14 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team. The camp will take place on Oct. 5-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Rabb, a 6-foot-9 junior power forward, is one of only four Californians among the 35 players and the only Northern California player.
Cardenas among winners in Alameda Tennis Tournament Bryan Cardenas won the Men's Singles 40-4.5 title in the 100th Annual City of Alameda Tennis Tournament on Sept. 7-8 at the Fairfield Tennis Courts at Washington Park. Cardenas defeated Luis Hernandez 6-3, 6-1 in the final. Omar Ted Panugaling defeated Edgar Setton 6-0, 6-1 in the Men's Singles 3.5 or below final. Cardenas and Alfred Feria won the Men's Doubles 4.0-4.5 title. Paul Nguyen and John Nguyen won the Men's Doubles 3.5 or below title.

Rodriguez-Fairfield at Encinal, football, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. -- Encinal will attempt to carry the momentum from its victory in its opener against the 0-1 Mustangs. Ed Sias Invitational, cross country, Sept. 14, 10:40 a.m. -- The annual race will be held at Hidden Lakes Park in Martinez this year due to ongoing renovation of Hidden Valley Park. The varsity boys races begin at 10:40 a.m. and varsity girls races start at 11:30 a.m.
Stars of the week James Lewis, Oakland Tech football -- The Bulldogs quarterback rushed for a game-high 137 yards on nine carries, including TD runs of 56- and 41-yards, and passed for 137 yards and another TD in a 37-14 victory over Pinole Valley on Sept. 6. Lucy Moradian, College Prep girls volleyball -- The junior outside hitter slammed 14 kills and also had four digs and two blocks in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-15 victory over Berean Christian on Sept. 5. Gabriel Watson, Piedmont football -- Watson, a sophomore, rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Highlanders' 28-21 loss to Piedmont on Sept. 6. Keilan Benjamin, El Cerrito football -- The senior quarterback passed for 289 yards, connecting on 19 of his 36 passes, and rushed for a team-high 85 yards in the Gauchos' 28-25 loss to Bellarmine College Prep-San Jose on Sept. 7. Benjamin also rushed for two touchdowns and passed for one. Kenness Cheung, Alameda girls golf -- Cheung shot an even-par 30 at Monarch Bay Golf Club in San Leandro on Sept. 3 for medalist honors in the Hornets' 175-191 West Alameda County Conference victory over San Leandro. She had two birdies and five pars in the round. Lorenzo Logwood, St. Mary's football -- Logwood rushed for a game-high 124 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown, in a 36-13 loss to Miramonte on Sept. 6. Emily Rentschler, Encinal football -- The senior connected on a 20-yard field goal with four seconds remaining to lift the Jets to a 13-10 victory over Aptos. Rentschler also had a 30-yard field goal in the win. Noah Suszckiwicz, Berkeley football -- The junior quarterback, a transfer from Oakland Tech, completed 16 of his 27 passes for 192 yards and no interceptions in a 20-6 loss to Monte Vista on Sept. 6.
