A traffic stop on Willie Stargell Avenue led to the arrest of a convicted felon after he was found with methamphetamine and an unloaded, concealed rifle, police said.
The 34-year-old man, who was arrested in the 500 block of the street about 2:20 p.m. Sept. 5, was also wanted on an outstanding warrant and was driving with a suspended license, police said.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 4 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 8:55 a.m. in the 1800 block of Clement Avenue. BURGLARY -- Painting supplies were stolen during the burglary of a shed on Garden Road that was reported at 10:40 a.m. A residential burglary was reported about 1:25 p.m. in the 2500 block of Clement Avenue.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 5 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 9:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Broadway. WEAPONS POSSESSION -- A traffic stop about 2:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Willie Stargell Avenue led to the arrest of a convicted felon after he was found with methamphetamine and an unloaded, concealed rifle, police said. BURGLARY -- Someone stole items from a garage in the 1200 block of Paru Street in what police have classified as a burglary. The theft was reported about 7:30 p.m. MISAPPROPRIATION OF LOST PROPERTY -- A man, 57, who officers contacted about 11:25 p.m. as a suspicious person in the 2000 block of Park Street was arrested after he was found in possession of mail and a vehicle registration that belong to other people, police said. The man said he found the items, but police he made no attempt to contact or return the owners.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 6 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 31, on suspicion of drunken driving following a traffic stop about 2:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of Park Street. A 26-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also arrested for public intoxication and for a probation violation, police said. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen shortly after noon in the 1300 block of Pearl Street. GRAND THEFT -- The theft of a dinghy was reported about 12:05 p.m. in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue. BURGLARY -- Someone stole items from a home in the 1600 block of Seaborn Court after entering the residence via an unlocked garage, police said. The burglary was reported at 1:05 p.m. UNDER THE INFLUENCE -- Officers investigating a report of a suspicious person in the 200 block of Aughinbaugh Way arrested a man, 42, on suspicion of being under the influence of narcotics. The man, who was arrested about 4:25 p.m., failed field sobriety tests before he was taken into custody, police said. Another man, 33, was arrested about 5:15 p.m. at Alameda South Shore Center, where he was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia, suspected hydrocodone pills and stolen mail. Officers initially contacted him while responding to a call for service in the area.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 22, on suspicion of drunken driving about 1:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of Everett Street. An officer pulled over the man after a witness reported that him and another man appeared drunk and had just gotten into a vehicle, police said. ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT -- Someone attempted to steal a vehicle in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue by tampering with the ignition. It was reported at 8:25 a.m. Police also said a vehicle was reported stolen about 5:15 p.m. at Paru Street and Santa Clara Avenue. PURSE SNATCHING -- A purse snatching was reported about 2:20 p.m. at Santa Clara Avenue and Chestnut Street, police said. UNDER THE INFLUENCE -- A man, 42, who a patrol officer initially detained because he recognized him as being on probation for drug offenses, was arrested just before midnight after he showed signs of being under the influence of narcotics, police said. The arrest occurred in the 2200 block of Clement Avenue.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 8 MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 20, about 1:35 a.m. after he was allegedly found in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana during a traffic stop at Third Street and Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A 26- year-old woman faces a drunken driving charge after she was involved in a traffic collision just before 10 p.m. at Park Street and Lincoln Avenue. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were hurt, police said.
