A traffic stop on Friday led to the arrest of a 60-year-old man after he was found in possession of suspected heroin and narcotics paraphernalia, police said.

An officer initially pulled over the man about 2:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue because of expired registration. After a background check showed the man was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was on probation, the officer searched him and found the heroin and paraphernalia, police said. The man was also driving without a license and carrying a concealed butcher knife, police said.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 19

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- A vehicle stolen in San Leandro was found just after 7 a.m. submerged in water off the Encinal Boat Ramp in the 200 block of Central Avenue, police said. In the same block a trailer was reported stolen just after 2 p.m. in what police have classified as a vehicle theft.

  • GRAND THEFT -- A boat was reported stolen at 10:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue.

  • POLICE PURSUIT -- A man driving a stolen car refused to pull over and briefly led officers on a pursuit, police said. It happened about 4:55 p.m. in the 1500 block of Park Street. Police said they called off the pursuit because it threatened public safety.

  • BURGLARY -- A commercial burglary was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

  • MISCELLANEOUS REPORT -- A cat died from its injuries after it attacked a dog at Park and San Jose avenues, where the dog's owner was walking it on the sidewalk with a leash, police said. The dog owner also was bitten by the cat while trying to separate the animals, police said. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m.

  • WEAPON POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 49, at 10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Park Street, where he was allegedly found in possession of a collapsible baton and a concealed knife with a fixed blade.

    FRIDAY, SEPT. 20

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- A vehicle stolen in Berkeley was recovered about 1:05 p.m. in the 1200 block of Park Avenue.

  • IDENTITY THEFT -- Identity theft was reported about 2:50 p.m. in the 2400 block of Shoreline Drive and at 4:30 p.m. and in the 3200 block of Fir Avenue.

  • VANDALISM -- A 36-year-old man arrested for public intoxication faces a vandalism charge after he allegedly kicked the window of a police patrol car, causing it to break. It occurred just before 6 p.m. in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue.

  • PUBLIC INTOXICATION -- Police arrested two men, ages 49 and 52, for public intoxication about 9:40 p.m. after they were reported harassing the owner of KFC on Encinal Avenue and refusing to leave the area.

    SATURDAY, SEPT. 21

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 41, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop at 1:40 a.m. at Park Street and Blanding Avenue. A 36-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving about an hour later at Willow Street and Santa Clara Avenue after she was involved in a collision and then fled the scene on foot, police said. Another motorist involved in a collision was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving about 8:10 p.m. in the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue, police said. The man, 40, was also accused of child endangerment.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen about 10:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Briggs Avenue and about 10 minutes later at Fourth Street and Marshall Way.

  • CONCEALED WEAPON -- Police arrested a man, 37, on suspicion of carrying a concealed machete about 2:40 p.m. at Santa Clara Avenue and Ninth Street.

    SUNDAY, SEPT. 22

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- A vehicle stolen in San Francisco was recovered about 1:25 a.m. in the 100 block of Corpus Christi Road.

  • GRAND THEFT -- Someone stole an outboard motor from a boat in the 1800 block of Clement Avenue, police said. The theft was reported about 11:15 a.m.

  • ROBBERY -- A robbery was reported about 2:30 p.m. on Park Avenue, where the thief brandished a knife before rifling the victim's pockets, police said.

  • OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- Police arrested a man, 23, after a traffic stop about 7:45 p.m. at Park Street and Santa Clara Avenue, where a background check revealed he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. An officer also found him in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana while searching him during the arrest, police said. A woman, 28, wanted on a misdemeanor warrant was arrested during another traffic stop about 10:45 p.m. on Alameda Avenue.
