Monday, sept. 16 10:52 p.m. -- Bonita Avenue. Police received a report of a man who was acting suspiciously by checking vehicle door handles.
Tuesday, sept. 17 1:59 a.m. -- Oakland Avenue. An older model car, possibly a Buick, was reported cruising slowly through the neighborhood, which a witness considered suspicious. 8:52 a.m. -- Howard Avenue. Identity theft was reported. Identity theft was also reported at 4:33 p.m. on Rose Street, police said. 7:36 p.m. -- Highland Avenue. Graffiti on the side of a building on the Piedmont High School campus was reported, police said.
Wednesday, sept. 18 9:05 p.m. -- Alta Avenue. A caller reported a dog barking in the neighborhood, and said it has been an ongoing issue for weeks. It was quiet, however, when an officer checked the area.
Thursday, sept. 19 9:11 a.m. -- Grand and Sunnyside avenues. A noninjury traffic accident was reported.
Friday, sept. 20 4:45 p.m. -- Oakland Avenue. A caller told police that he witnessed a boy about 16 years old and carrying a backpack run down the street and board an AC Transit bus, and that moments later he saw a man about 60 years old with his credit cards scattered on the ground. The witness thought a robbery may have just occurred, police said. A patrol officer could not locate anyone matching the description of the suspect or victim. 5:51 p.m. -- Sunnyside Avenue. A bicycle was reported stolen from a vehicle.
Saturday, Sept. 21 1:32 p.m. -- Monticello Avenue. The theft of a red 1995 Honda Accord was reported. The vehicle was last seen 6 p.m. Friday. 1:41 p.m. -- Wyngaard Avenue. Identity theft was reported.
Sunday, sept. 22 5:12 p.m. -- Lower Grand Avenue. Police recovered a blue Saturn reported stolen in Contra Costa County. The vehicle, which had a purse inside, was parked in the neighborhood for about one week. 9:28 p.m. -- Selborne Drive. A bicycle was reported stolen from an open garage in what police have classified as a burglary. The theft occurred sometime during the previous hour.
