A 27-year-old man arrested for public intoxication kicked and permanently damaged the window of a patrol car as it pulled up outside the jail Sunday, vandalism that occurred about two hours after another man kicked and damaged a police cruiser's window, officers said.
The man arrested on suspicion of public intoxication about 10:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Park Street also allegedly made death threats against an officer.
The other man arrested earlier, 46, had struck his girlfriend in the head with a backpack containing a laptop, and then fought with officers as they were taking him into custody on Santa Clara Avenue, police said. Both cars sustained extensive damage during the separate incidents, according to police.
Another man, 23, arrested about 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Brush Street, also fought with officers as they arrested him on suspicion of drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants, police said. The man also allegedly tried to destroy the paraphernalia by stepping on it.
Police also said a 36-year-old man arrested about 9:50 a.m. Oct. 4 for public intoxication in the 1200 block of Park Street "became enraged and began kicking the passenger side rear window to a patrol vehicle, causing damage," records show. The man, also accused of violating his probation, "spit at officers multiple times and spit on one officer three separate times," police said.
THURSDAY, OCT. 3 DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 39, on Schiller Street after officers allegedly found him in possession of heroin about 7:30 a.m., when they were checking if he was abiding by the conditions of his probation. The man was also wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to make a court date. Officers also carried out a compliance check about 11:50 a.m. on a Pacific Avenue resident on probation. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 9:55 a.m. in the 700 block of Santa Clara Avenue. Another vehicle was reported stolen about 7:50 p.m. in the 2200 block of Mariner Square Loop after the thief initially stole the victim's keys from her unlocked locker at the Alameda Athletic Club, police said. Police also said a vehicle stolen in Oakland was recovered about 12:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Versailles Avenue.
FRIDAY, OCT. 4 VEHICLE THEFT -- A motorcycle was reported stolen about 7:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of Otis Drive. Police also recovered an unreported stolen vehicle just before 1 p.m. in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue, where it was also fitted with a stolen license plate. DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 24, on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale about 7:40 a.m. in the Webster Tube, where he also allegedly showed symptoms of being under the influence of the substance. The man was also accused of possessing muscle relaxants without a prescription, and he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for methamphetamine possessing, police records show. ASSAULT -- An employee of a restaurant in the 1400 block of Webster Street suffered a broken nose when a passer-by punched him during a confrontation, police said. It happened about 10:50 p.m. after the employee asked the man if he damaged the restaurant's sign, prompting the man to punch him several times in the face, police said.
SATURDAY, OCT. 5 RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Moraga about 12:20 a.m. in the 1600 block of Park Street, where it was also fitted with two stolen license plates. Police also said a motorcycle was reported stolen just before 8 a.m. in the 1800 block of Shoreline Drive.
SUNDAY, OCT. 6 ASSAULT -- Police arrested two men and a woman about 12:30 a.m. after they became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation on Buena Vista Avenue. One of the men, 67, the woman's former boyfriend, hit her in the face and kicked her in the stomach before another man, 66, at the scene struck him on the head with a wooden club, leaving him with lacerations, police said. Along with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the man who was hit with the club was also accused of possessing four syringes containing suspected heroin. The woman, whose age was not available, was also arrested on narcotics charges, police said. DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a man, 29, on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia after officers initially contacted him while investigating the report of a suspicious person about 9:25 a.m. in the 3100 block of Fernside Boulevard. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -- Someone tried to break into a business in the 1500 block of Webster Street by kicking in the front door. The attempt was reported about 9:40 a.m.
m POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY -- A 20-year-old man reported as a suspicious person inside a building in the 1700 block of Santa Clara Avenue was arrested after he was found in possession of stolen and misappropriated property, as well as drug paraphernalia, police said. The arrest occurred at 8:35 a.m. VEHICLE THEFT -- The theft of a motorcycle was reported about 2:35 p.m. in the 1300 block of Burbank Street. WEAPONS POSSESSION -- A man whom officers contacted because he was loitering in an abandoned apartment complex was arrested after he was found carrying a concealed fixed-blade knife, a concealed hatchet and a knife sharpener, police said. The man, 42, who was arrested about 5:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Orion Street, also faces a charge of violating his probation. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES -- A man whose bicycle was stolen in San Jose contacted Alameda police about 5 p.m., saying he had spotted the bike for sale on Craigslist under an Alameda listing. The seller in the 2100 block of Central Avenue told police that he bought the bicycle at a flea market in Oakland and agreed to turn over the bike to police until the investigation is complete.
