A traffic stop at Park Street and Alameda Avenue on Oct. 16 led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man on suspicion of vehicle theft, police said.
An officer pulled over the man about 9:35 p.m. because he was riding a motorcycle that did not have a license plate and because he was wearing a bicycle -- not a motorcycle -- helmet. While the license plate was missing from the motorcycle, a records check of its Vehicle Identification Number revealed the motorcycle was stolen Oct. 11 in Oakland, police said.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 16 MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 20, and a woman, 19, after officers investigated a report that their vehicle was suspicious and found them allegedly in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The woman also faces a charge of possessing alcohol as a minor. The arrests occurred about 10:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Shoreline Drive. Police also said a man, 33, was arrested about 10:50 p.m. in the 600 block of Buena Vista Avenue, where he was allegedly in possession of suspected methamphetamine, a pipe for smoking the substance and a fake $5 bill.
THURSDAY, OCT. 17 RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle stolen from a BART parking lot in Oakland in the 400 block of Willow Street at 5:50 a.m. A vehicle was reported stolen at 11:20 a.m. in the 1300 block of Marina Village Parkway. DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -- Police arrested a man, 41, about 5:05 p.m. on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia in the 1300 block of Park Street.
FRIDAY, OCT. 18 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported about 7:05 a.m. in the 300 block of Ratto Road. Another vehicle was reported stolen about two hours later in the 1000 block of Broadway. CHILD ABUSE -- A man, 34, faces child abuse charges after teachers discovered what police described as "severe bruising" on a child in his care and notified authorities. Police arrested the man about 6:20 p.m. on Buena Vista Avenue. He admitted hitting the child, saying it was for discipline, police said.
SATURDAY, OCT. 19 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving at 1:45 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Lincoln Avenue. GRAND THEFT -- Someone stole an outboard motor from a boat in the 1800 block of Clement Avenue. The theft was reported about 1:30 p.m. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 2:10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police also recovered a stolen vehicle about 2:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of Sixth Street. FORGERY -- A man, 33, faces a forgery charge after he altered a cashier's check and deposited it into his account at Wells Fargo on Marina Village Parkway. Police arrested him about 1:30 p.m. DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a man, 51, on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine about 9:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Park Street, where an officer initially detained him for riding a bicycle at night without a headlight. The man was also accused of violating his probation.
SUNDAY, OCT. 20 DRUG POSSESSION -- Police arrested a 22-year-old man just after midnight after a traffic stop at Park Street and Otis Drive, where he was allegedly found carrying two suspected hydrocodone pills without a prescription. The man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was carrying less than one ounce of marijuana, police said. Another man, 24, was arrested about 20 minutes later in the 1200 block of Park Street, where an officer initially contacted him because he was drunk and stumbling in the street, police said. An officer allegedly found suspected cocaine while searching him during the arrest. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 54, on suspicion of drunken driving after a traffic stop about 12:45 a.m. in the 2000 block of Webster Street. Another woman, 38, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving about 7:45 p.m. after she was involved in a traff collision in the 2400 block of Shoreline Drive. The woman also faces a child endangerment charge because her juvenile son was in the vehicle, police said. OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- A man, 32, stopped for riding a bicycle at night without a headlight was arrested after a background check revealed he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. An officer also found someone else's checkbook in the man's backpack while arresting him at 2:05 a.m. on Tilden Way. The man, who claimed he found the checkbook, made no attempt to turn it over to a police department and could thus face a criminal charge, police said. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported about 12:20 p.m. in the 2400 block of Encinal Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys in the ignition, police said. Vehicles were also reported stolen about 2:50 p.m. in the 2800 block of Seaview Parkway, at 4:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of Alameda South Shore Center and about 8:50 a.m. in the 700 block of Santa Clara Avenue.
