EC football players change college plans El Cerrito High football players Jalen Harvey and D.J. Calhoun both confirmed on Oct. 21 that they had de-committed from Cal and USC respectively, and Harvey confirmed that he had orally committed to Arizona State. Both players took official visits to Arizona State last weekend. Calhoun is a four-star outside linebacker and Harvey is a three-star wide receiver according to rivals.com. Calhoun had orally committed to USC in July, and Harvey had orally committed to Cal in April. Adarius Pickett, another highly-recruited senior from El Cerrito, tweeted on Oct. 21 that he is still 100-percent committed to UCLA.

O'Dowd boys water polo beats Hercules The Bishop O'Dowd High boys water polo team received three goals from Peter Johann and two goals from Chris Leboa in an 11-3 victory over Hercules on Oct. 17. Michael Hull grabbed five saves and teammate Trevor Link added three saves as the Dragons improved to 3-2 in West Alameda County Conference play.
Encinal boys water polo defeats O'Dowd Seth Tonningsen and Jeremy Ardourel both produced three goals as the Encinal High boys water polo team beat Bishop O'Dowd 8-5 on Oct. 15. The Dragons' Peter Wong and Chris Leboa both had two goals in the loss.

Castro Valley at Encinal, football, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. -- The Jets will look to increase its four-game winning streak and stay undefeated in the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division when it hosts the Trojans.
Stars of the week Tenzin Diki, El Cerrito girls tennis -- Diki's No. 4 singles straight-set win, combined with a doubles sweep, gave the Gauchos a 4-3 victory over Hercules on Oct. 14 in Tri-County Athletic League action. Lorenzo Logwood, St. Mary's football -- Logwood rushed for a team-high 107 yards on 30 carries in the Panthers' 14-3 TCAL-Rock loss to Salesian on Oct. 19. Savannah Fisher, St. Joseph Notre Dame girls tennis -- Fisher won a pair of Tri-County Athletic League No. 1 singles matches last week against El Cerrito and Salesian respectively, losing only five games total in the two matches. Sulaiman Hameed, Alameda football -- Hameed produced nine receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the Hornets' 35-27 WACC-Shoreline loss to Piedmont on Oct. 18. Kevin Shaa, Encinal football -- The junior grabbed two interceptions in the second half of the Jets' 10-0 WACC-Foothill victory over Berkeley on Oct. 18. Armand Shyne, Skyline football -- Shyne rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' 21-8 Oakland Athletic League win over Oakland Tech on Oct. 18. Miranda Sinsheimer, Bishop O'Dowd girls water polo -- Sinsheimer produced a team-high three goals in the Dragons' 10-3 victory over Hercules on Oct. 19. Gabe Watson, Piedmont football -- Watson rushed for a game-high 183 yards on 22 carries and scored four touchdowns, including the final one with 1 minute, 3 seconds to play, in the Highlanders' 35-27 WACC-Shoreline victory over Alameda on Oct. 18.
