Skyline remains unbeaten in OAL play The Skyline High girls volleyball team swept both Oakland and Fremont last week to remain unbeaten in the Oakland Athletic League. Behind 10 kills from junior Charlotte Hutcheson and 12 assists from Audrey Sihaki, the Titans beat Oakland 25-9, 25-13, 25-13 on Oct. 22. Then Skyline received nine aces for Sihaki and six kills from Hutcheson in a 25-11, 25-14, 25-6 victory over Fremont on Oct. 24.
Calhoun chooses Arizona State El Cerrito High football player D.J. Calhoun announced via Twitter on Oct. 27 that he had orally committed to Arizona State. On Oct. 21, he confirmed that he had de-committed from USC. Calhoun is a four-star outside linebacker according to rivals.com, and had orally committed to USC in July.
Pilots volleyball team bounces back After a four-set loss to Albany on Oct. 22, the St. Joseph Notre Dame girls volleyball team rebounded with a 25-18, 25-10, 22-25, 25-13 victory over Salesian on Oct. 24. Rebecca Langowski slammed 20 kills, and Emma Doud added 12 kills and four aces in the victory. In the loss to Albany, Langowski had 17 kills and Doud had 15 kills.

San Lorenzo vs. Alameda at Thompson Field, football, Nov. 1, 7 p.m. -- The winner will have an inside track for at least a share of the WACC-Shoreline title.
Stars of the week Majied Bey, Bishop O'Dowd football -- Bey grabbed three interceptions, including one which he returned 20 yards for a touchdown, in the Dragons' 28-15 victory over Hayward on Oct. 25. Then she produced six kills in a 25-11, 25-14, 25-6 victory over Fremont on Oct. 24. Amber Erhahon, Albany girls volleyball -- Erhahon produced a career-high 26 kills in a 26-24, 31-29, 21-25, 25-22 win over St. Joseph Notre Dame on Oct. 22 that clinched the Tri-County Athletic League-Rock Division title. She also had 10 kills in a 25-10, 25-20, 25-23 victory over El Cerrito on Oct. 24 and 38 kills in four matches of the Northgate tournament on Oct. 26. Elijah Hernandez, Alameda football -- Hernandez completed 13 of his 22 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns, and he also rushed for 61 yards on eight carries in the Hornets' 35-25 win over Mt. Eden on Oct. 26. Rebecca Langowski, St. Joseph Notre Dame girls volleyball -- Langowski showed she is an offensive force in three matches last week. She had 19 kills in a 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 win over St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Oct. 21, 17 kills in a 26-24, 31-29, 21-25, 25-22 loss to Albany on Oct. 22, and 20 kills in a 25-18, 25-10, 22-25, 25-13 win over Salesian on Oct. 24. Lorenzo Logwood, St. Mary's football -- Logwood rushed for 122 yards on 29 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Panthers' 28-7 win over St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Oct. 26.
