Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter is celebrating "Adopt a Senior Pet" month in November with a Sensational Senior Adoption Special. All our senior pets (7 and older) are available for the adoption fee of $7. FAAS has several wonderful senior pets ready to go to their permanent homes.
November is also the month we celebrate the outstanding efforts of all our veterans. FAAS sends out a huge thank-you to all veterans for all you have done and continue to do for our country. There is a close link between veterans and pets. They can help each other in many ways, including providing each other with unconditional love.
The Humane Society of Alameda offers a program that brings veterans and pets together. All pets adopted by Alameda veterans are FREE! Thanks to a very special bequest to the Humane Society, they are able to offer this program. Pets can be wonderful support for veterans, and the Humane Society wants to help make that possible.
The Humane Society also offers free adoptions of shelter pets to Alameda senior citizens living on low incomes. This is another great reason to take advantage of Adopt a Senior Pet month!
Pet Of The Week: BOSS MAN is an 8-year-old black-and-white Lab/pointer mix that is an all-around sweet dog.
DOG ALLEY: There are 21 dogs available at the Alameda Animal Shelter. The following two are part of the Sensational Senior Adoption Special and can be adopted for $7. RAFIKI is a 10-year-old gray poodle mix. MINNIE is a 5-year-old black-and-white Chihuahua mix.
CAT LAIR: There are 34 felines available at the Alameda Animal Shelter. These are also available as Sensational Seniors. KENZIE is a beautiful, black, 8-year-old feline. KILI is a wonderful calico cat that is 11 years old.
RABBIT ROW: MARTIN, a neutered agouti, and SPECKLES, a neutered English spot, are in foster. ASH is a 4-month-old white-and-gray English spot, and Adam is a 4-month-old hot-tot.
Many pet owners consider their pet a beloved family member. When a pet passes away the owner can experience intense pain. Joining the Pet Loss support group gives you an opportunity to share your love and loss with others who have shared a similar experience.
