All the pets at FAAS can be adopted for FREE this weekend. This is a great time to pick up a new best friend for the holidays. If you want to adopt a pet, everyone in the household needs to meet the prospective new family member, you'll need to bring proof of homeownership or your rental lease saying you can have a pet. If you are adopting a dog and have dogs, they need to meet before the adoption. The shelter is located at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda and our weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
November is "Sensational Senior" month at FAAS. Senior pets 7 years and older can be adopted for $7 for the entire month (and free this weekend!). Senior pets are still full of life and especially loving. They are perfect pets! Here are two of the wonderful seniors waiting for their permanent homes:
Boss Man (about 7 years old) -- if you visit our Facebook page you will have no doubt viewed a photo of Boss Man with his fun-loving smile. He is a male Labrador retriever/pointer that is an all-around sweet dog. He has lived in a home with children and seems to get along well with other dogs. Boss Man is already neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines.
Keetchoon (about 7 years old) -- Keetchoon came to the shelter with her daughter, Baby. She is a very sweet cat, a bit shy, but may become more confident once in her new home. Staff and volunteers find Keetchoon and Baby very loving and would like for the mom and daughter to be adopted together.
Pet Of The Week: KENZIE is a beautiful 8 years young spayed female. She has stunning medium length black fur.
DOG ALLEY: There are 20 dogs available at the Alameda Animal Shelter. TIMMY is a 2 year old tan and white Chihuahua mix. BAXTER is a 1 year old black/tan miniature pinscher.
CAT LAIR: There are 32 felines available at the Alameda Animal Shelter. GRADY is a handsome 7-month old neutered gray kitten. ARIEL is a very pretty 5 year old gray/white female.
RABBIT ROW: MARTIN, a neutered Agouti, and SPECKLES, a neutered English spot, are in foster care. ASH is a 4-month-old white/gray English spot, and ADAM is a 4-month-old hot-tot.
Mim Carlson is executive director of Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter. Visit the shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way at Grand Street, call 510-337-8565 or visit www.alamedaanimalshelter.org to view the animals.
