TRI-VALLEY -- Make no mistake about it, the season of parades, tree lightings and Santa Claus has definitely arrived.
The festivities start off on Thanksgiving Day with the annual festive and free Livermore Community Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. It traditionally serves more than 1,000 people. nov. 29 Light the Old Oak Tree -- 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. Gather around the Diablo Road landmark tree and enjoy music by local children. Father Christmas and the Snow Angel will kick off the holiday season and turn on the lights. Downtown will have street-corner musicians, and shops will offer holiday goodies. Downtown Danville.
nov. 30 -- jan. 6 Deacon Dave's 31st Christmas Display -- Open Nov. 30 to Jan. 1 at 352 Hillcrest Ave. in Livermore. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 6 to 10 p.m. Christmas Eve and Day; 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. dec. 1 Bah Humbug 5K Run/Walk -- 7:30 to 8:50 a.m., race day registration. Start the season off with a healthy fun run or walk. Medals are given to the first three finishers in each age division. Costume awards will be given for Most Grinch-Like, Best Holiday Spirit and Best Group Theme. Registration is $40 on race day. dec. 5 Dublin Tree Lighting -- 7 to 8:30 p.m. Local students will perform music. Free refreshments and children may meet Santa Claus. Dublin Civic Center, 100 Civic Plaza.
dec. 6-22 Happy Holidays Musical Review -- 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturday Dec. 14 & 21; 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 7 and Sunday Dec. 8; 3 p.m. Sunday Dec. 22. dec. 7 Bishop Ranch Tree Lighting Ceremony -- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kick off the season with the Bishop Ranch tree lighting ceremony and holiday event. Activities include lighting of a 65-foot tree, live music by school choirs; sleigh rides; snow play for kids 12 and under; photos with Santa and refreshments for sale. Holiday Sights & Sounds Parade -- 6 p.m. Features local marching bands, music, light displays, and Santa Claus. Tree lighting to follow parade. Parade travels First Street from M Street to McLeod St. "Bruce Sprucetree" will be lit at the corner of First Street and South Livermore Avenue. Downtown Livermore. Free. Hometown Holiday Parade -- 5 to 7:30 p.m. Pleasanton will host the downtown parade along Main Street. It begins with marching bands and is followed by holiday inspired entries. Other events include a sing-a-long, and Santa. The tree lighting follows the parade and will be at Museum on Main, 603 Main St. Free.
dec. 7 & 14 Holidays on the Farm -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Two of Santa's reindeer will visit. There will also be tours of the Glass House Museum (fee) decorated for the holidays, visits with Santa and ornament making. Stuff a teddy bear (fee), play games, enjoy tractor rides and sheepdog demonstrations. Food will be for sale. Forest Home Farms Historic Park, 19953 San Ramon Valley Blvd., San Ramon. 925-973-3284. dec. 14 Breakfast with Santa -- 8:30, 9:45 and 11 a.m. Santa Claus is coming to Dublin. Enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fruit and drinks. Proceeds benefit the Dublin High School Irish Guard Band. Photos with Santa will be available.
