A woman pulled over in a traffic stop struggled with officers as they tried to arrest her on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, including kicking one officer in the hand, police said.
The 52-year-old woman initially refused to sign the citation and tried to get back into her vehicle during the stop, which occurred on Lincoln Avenue about 12:50 a.m. Nov. 30, police said.
After the woman ignored officers' commands to stay away from her vehicle, she was placed in handcuffs, which caused her to become combative and eventually kick the officer, according to police. Along with driving on a suspended license, the woman faces charges of resisting or obstructing police and battery on a police officer.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27 VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen just before 7 a.m. in the 1500 block of Stanton Street and at 5:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of Clinton Avenue. PETTY THEFT -- A security guard at Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center placed a woman, 29, under citizen's arrest about 6:40 p.m. for allegedly shoplifting merchandise.
THURSDAY, NOV. 28 PETTY THEFT -- Someone stole a woman's purse from off a shopping cart as she was inside Safeway at Alameda South Shore Center, police said. The theft was reported about 3:50 p.m. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:55 p.m. in the 100 block of Cypress Street.
FRIDAY, NOV. 29 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 3:15 p.m. in the 1700 block of Pearl Street. DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 63, on suspicion of drunken driving about 6:15 p.m. after she was involved in a traffic collision at Encinal Avenue and High Street. The woman, who failed field sobriety tests, was booked at Santa Rita Jail, police said. DRUG POSSESSION -- A 40-year-old man was arrested at 9:40 p.m. after police said he was found with suspected methamphetamine and a pipe for smoking the substance during a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue. The man allegedly admitted having the material, which led officers to search his vehicle.
SATURDAY, NOV. 30 BURGLARY -- A residential burglary was reported about 10:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Shoreline Drive. Someone also cut a padlock and broke into a storage shed in the 2100 block of Otis Drive in what police have classified as a burglary. The break-in was reported about 11:35 a.m. Another burglary of a storage unit was reported about 5:15 p.m. in the 2200 block of Clement Avenue, where someone stole a flat screen television. PETTY THEFT -- A thief who shoplifted merchandise from a store in the 1500 block of Park Street fled in a waiting vehicle driven by a second suspect, despite an employee and two customers following her from the business and trying to stop her from leaving. It occurred about 4:45 p.m. Police arrested a 23-year-old woman about 6:30 p.m. after she allegedly shoplifted merchandise from TJ Maxx at Alameda South Shore Center. Store security initially detained the woman as she was leaving the business. WEAPON POSSESSION -- A traffic stop at Park Street and San Antonio Avenue led to the arrest of a juvenile after he was found in possession of a loaded and concealed revolver stolen in Tracy, police said. The juvenile, who was arrested about 10:30 p.m., faces enhanced charges since he is a minor and a felon, police said.
SUNDAY, DEC. 1 VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen just before 11 a.m. in the 1100 block of Pacific Marina and at 5:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of Fifth Street. Police also said a vehicle found about 3:10 p.m. with two missing right tires in the 500 block of Pensacola Road was stolen in Oakland. VEHICLE BURGLARY -- Someone broke into a vehicle and stole items from inside while it was parked in the 2100 block of Alameda South Shore Center. The theft was reported about 2:35 p.m. Another vehicle break-in was reported about 6:35 p.m. in the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue, where someone smashed the driver's side window and then made off with a pair of boots and a pair of shoes.
