Woman fights back against attacker
A woman who fought a robber outside her El Cerrito apartment using a pot she had just purchased while shopping managed to escape the attack unharmed, police said.
Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 to the woman's home in the 400 block of Kearney Street for a report of a robbery, police said.
Officers learned that when the woman returned home from shopping, a man approached her from behind and began to yank her purse off her shoulder.
During the attack, the woman defended herself by striking the man with a pot she had just purchased, hitting him several times in the upper body and face.
Despite her actions, the man managed to flee with her purse, but police said the suspect may now have a cut on his face.
Anyone with information about the attack or who may know the suspect who was caught on video surveillance is asked to call 510-215-4414, ext. 40, and reference case number 13-24069. Images of the attacker are online at http://www.ibabuzz.com/westcounty/.
